Course Syllabus for Applied Tuba and Euphonium
This syllabus spells out to my students what is expected from them in order to get the most out of their lessons and to have a positive experience in the studio.

Tune of the Week
This is a list of literature that every self-respecting classical musician should know. Somewhere along the way, it dawned on me that music students at big schools don’t get the same kind of exposure to the standard literature that their conservatory peers do. So, I developed an assignment called “Tune of the Week”, in which students listen to these works and write an opinion paper based on their reaction to the piece. “Do You C What I C?”
A rather thorough (and lengthy!) article examining the solo literature suitable for the big horn. This topic is near and dear to my heart, as I didn’t own an F tuba until I was about 30 years old and feel strongly about the necessity of making good music on the contrabass tuba. This article suggests a good basic repertoire for the one horn crowd. Published in the Winter 2003 ITEA Journal.

A primer on how our air and embouchure work together to make a great sound.

Choosing Colleges
This article explores some of the issues taken into consideration when selecting the college and the degree program that are right for you. This was originally written as a handout for our visitation day, but is relevant for any student of any instrument. The article also includes some thoughts on audition preparation and strategy.
